Scholastic Fair

Kevin’s school has an annual Scholastic Fair where each classroom studies about and does projects on a specific theme. This year, the theme for Kevin’s class was reptiles. He chose the anaconda snake for his research and project. Here, Kevin makes a snake pattern with brown butcher paper. Kevin uses his pattern to cut the fabric that he chose for his snake Kevin at the Scholastic Fair with his teacher and his snake. Kevin made the snake’s inner skeleton with wooden jar beads strung on jewelry elastic cord. The anaconda’s ‘skin’ was sewed together, eyes clasped on, and stuffing added to fill out its body. Kevin’s anaconda report (he did all the research, Mama did the layout) Battle of the anaconda and sea turtle Kevin and friends show their book reports - Kevin’s book is called ‘All About Turtles’ Kevin’s picture-story about himself as a turtle Kevin and friends hold their Scholastic Fair folders full of reptile paper work (Kevin insists on holding his folder upside-down) Reptiles made by Kevin’s classmates are on display in the center of the classroom Reptile projects are on display on the walls Close-up of Kevin’s lizard, made of various beans, on the wall Kevin and Rachel look at space-themed projects
