Kevin Begins Second Grade / Dad In ER

The two youngest boys were up once again before daybreak. Kenton got up to take care of them, while I snuck in an extra hour of sleep. Kenton was hungry so decided to cook a couple of Chinese dishes. We had a delicious Chinese meal at 5 am (suppertime in China). Hopefully, we’ll be able to switch our body clocks over soon.

Kenton went into the office today, so I brought Kevin to school (along with his brothers). Today is his first day in second grade. Of course, I had my camera and took several pictures. Kevin and all the other students were greeted in the lobby by all the teachers clapping and welcoming them. It was a nice way to begin the first day of school!

The boys: I kept Justin and Brian up all morning. They were very fussy, but Justin especially needs to adjust his body clock soon - he begins pre-kindergarden next week. Kevin had a half day of school today, so we went to pick him up at 12:30. Both Justin and Brian fell asleep in the van immediately – it was only a five-minute drive too.

Kevin told me that he fell asleep in class. I had mentioned to his teacher before class started that we had just gotten back from China, so he might be tired. Kevin said that he woke up when his teacher made some announcement. Apparently, it was a short nap because his teacher didn’t notice that he fell asleep.

About an hour ago, I could hear a phone ringing in the far distant background. It rang, then stopped, then rang again, then stopped. I’m not sure how many phone calls we missed, but we were all asleep to the world – except for Kevin who was busy doing his own thing. It turns out that Mom was trying to reach me, along with Darrell and Shar, and also Beryl. Dad is in the emergency room, and is in the process of getting admitted to the hospital. The diagnosis at this time is congestive heart failure. He is dealing with pulmonary edema. We’re going to try to go to Richmond to see him tonight. We’re a bit worried about the drive since we’re both very sleepy, but hopefully we'll figure something out with my siblings.

Please pray for my dad – for healing and for his health. Thank-you for your prayers in advance.
