New Bookcases

We purchased some new bookcases. We have been using two bookcases that the previous owner of our house left. One of the shelves collapsed and a couple of other shelves were a little bow-shaped so it was time to replace them. Both Justin and Brian helped me assemble two of the bookcases.

Justin was excited to go to class again after the long weekend. His class is studying the letter ‘R,’ and for their craft they made tie-dye Rainbows using paper coffee filters and markers. They also colored a picture of a Rainbow.

Kevin’s school has an accelerated reading program, where books are given a point value based on the books’ reading level and length. The kids are required to earn a certain number of points a week. Each day they have an opportunity to take a computerized quiz on the book(s) they read. Over the long weekend, Kevin read a lot of books. He wanted to take quizzes on five of the books today, but I told him that three books were enough.

In the evening, Kenton went to a nearby gym to play some pick-up basketball. While he was out, all three boys ‘helped’ me assemble the third bookcase. They each wanted to be the one to use the screwdriver with the screws, to hammer in the nails, or to put the shelf pegs into the holes. It took a while to finish, and by the time we were done it was past bedtime. We had to rush through our bedtime routines.
